Bleed or No Bleed?
Understanding which type of margins to select.
When self-publishing on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) - https://kdp.amazon.com/. One of the common questions you will be asked is about the type of margins you need for printing. You will have to decide between bleed or no bleed.
Bleed means that the content will extend to the edge of the page leaving no white trimming around the edges. If you are writing a book with images, backgrounds, and large graphics, for example, you would want the images to extent to the edge of the page. Here’s an example from my soon to be released poetry collection, “Kentucky Soulminer.”
No Bleed means the content will not extend to the edge of the page and all content will stay inside the margins. It is used when your book is mostly text or your designs don’t require edge-to-edge printing.
Happy writing,
